About Fourlanes

An independent product studio based in Kampala, Uganda.

THE BACKSTORY

Fourlanes is run by Edwin P. Magezi. Before starting the studio, Edwin spent a decade building data platforms and web products for international development organisations — PATH, the Gates Foundation, Girl Effect, APHRC, and others.

That work meant building software for real conditions: low-bandwidth environments, constrained budgets, users who couldn't afford for something to be confusing. You learn to be specific fast.

WHY THIS STUDIO

Most software sold in East Africa was designed for someone else's market and adapted — or just sold as-is. The pricing assumes a different cost base. The workflows assume different infrastructure. The defaults are wrong.

Fourlanes builds products that start from the context they'll actually run in. Not ports. Not adaptations. Software built for here.

HOW WE WORK

We're a small studio. We work on one product at a time. That focus is deliberate — it means the product gets the attention it needs to be good, not just shipped.

We're not an agency. We don't take client projects. We build and own the products we make.
